There are cats that are especially protective of their humans. And it is that, when they feel very loved and are very well cared for, the bond that is formed between human and cat is so strong that the feline can behave like a guard dog, being able to attack whoever it considers to be its enemy.
It is not surprising that sometimes we hear or read someone say that "my cat defends me." But this behavior is usually very curious to us, so let's see why he does it.
Surely you have seen a video of a cat that has just given birth to her puppies and that protects them as much as she can and more from possible enemies (dogs, people, etc.). Go from being calm and loving to being very, very angry in an instant. Well, why do I say this? Because the same thing can happen to cats with whom we have a special bond when they see us in a situation that is dangerous for them.

In this case, a glass container falling to the ground was all the cat needed to defend the little one, who was safe and sound at the time. But why did he do it? Why do cats defend us sometimes?
Well the answer is actually simple: they think we need their help in those moments, and how they see us as part of their family, they defend us. They love us very much, and they do not want anything bad to happen to us, hence we are increasingly more aware of how protective they can be.
So if your cat defends you, do not punish him. If there is no reason for him to protect you, try to get him out of the situation with cat treats or toys, or by making noise - slapping the air, for example, never yelling or hitting him.
