Hyperapego in cats, a serious problem

Cat with human

Having attachment to a cat is something completely natural, since it is an animal that makes itself loved very much, not very much. But sometimes this affection can turn against us (both that of the feline and that of his family), since neither of us can have a normal life.

It is very important that both of us have a certain independence, because otherwise we will become dependent on the other ... and that would end up giving us a toxicity in the relationship that is not healthy at all. So, I'm going to talk to you about hyperapego in cats… Because I've had it and it's not easy to get over it.

How do I know whether or not I have hyperactivity for my cat?

If you are a follower of the blog it is because either you are thinking of having a cat, or because you already have one and want to take better care of it, or because you are curious about these animals. But you have to know that no matter how much I or anyone else tells you or advises you, the only way to know if living with one is a good idea or not is ... living with him. Every cat is a world, and every human being too.

I am one of those who think that there is a cat for each person, and when that happens, that is, when the person finds his ideal cat (or he finds her 😉), everything flows. But you have to be careful, since otherwise we could have a sick relationship with him.

The »symptoms» of hyperapego are the following:

  • Think only of the welfare of the cat.
  • Do not go on vacation so as not to leave him alone.
  • Talk about the cat as soon as the slightest opportunity arises.
  • Have almost no social life.
  • Spending a lot of money on things that the cat is believed to need.

How is it treated?

From experience I can tell you that it's not easy at all, and less when you have bottle-fed the cat in question. You feel like his "mother" or "father," and you are so afraid that something bad will happen to him that you stop doing things you used to do. But I'm telling you, it's not good. You can feel so much stress or anxiety that you end up "infecting" the cat with your negative emotions.

How then is this problem solved? Well. The first thing is understand that both you and the cat need to be a little independent. People are sociable by nature; It is something that we carry in our genes, and it hurts us a lot to be alone all the time. Therefore, I advise you to do the following:

  • Start meeting your friends. If you want at home, but do not forget to go out from time to time.
  • Don't spend more money on cat supplies. Your furry only needs a few toys (mine only play with a cane and a ball made of aluminum foil), a bed (or two at the most), a scraper, as well as of course a feeder, a drinking bowl and a litter tray. Don't buy her clothes, she doesn't need them.
  • Don't humanize the cat. The feline is a feline, and you are a human. You both have very different needs and lifestyles.
  • If you need extra help, see a cat flower therapist, who will help you with Bach Flowers to recover your life.

Take care of your cat so that it is happy

I hope it has served you 🙂. Cheer up!
