Cats are animals that, unlike us, mostly use body language to communicate. In fact, they only use oral language (meows) when they want to get attention, for example, when they want us to give them their can.
Whoever wants to live with one of them must be prepared to communicate with them in a different way than how they would with another human being, and above all, to give the furry a good life, something that will be easier for us to achieve if we know how to understand cat gestures.
To understand a cat, we must pay particular attention to its tail, its ears and its eyes.
Cats tail
The tail is a part of the body that can tell us a lot about our friend's mood: if he holds it up and moves it from one side to the other slowly, it is because he is happy; On the other hand, if it is low, it is because it has lost interest. But there is still more: If it is low and is also tapping against the ground, or moves only the tip of its tail, it is because it feels tense or uncomfortable.
Cat ears
The ears of a calm cat will always be in a normal, relaxed position. If you call them or show interest in something in particular, they will turn them forward, even though if they feel tense they will turn them backwards, as if preparing for a possible fight.
Cat eyes
If your cat is requesting pampering, you will see that his eyes are slightly squinted, but if he has them wide open, with fixed gaze and also has bristly hair and / or shows his teeth, I recommend that you leave him alone in the room with the door open as he feels very angry and could hurt you.
On the other hand, if you have them open with your ears in a relaxed position, it is because you are simply observing what is around him.
We hope we have helped you understand the gestures of your furry 🙂.
