When our beloved cat has an eye disease, the vet will recommend that we add one or two drops of some eye drops. But if it is already difficult to give him a medicine by mouth, putting drops in his precious eyes can turn out to be an almost impossible task.
Still, sometimes there is no choice but to be patient and "force" the cat to be as still as possible to be able to put them on, otherwise it could not heal. The question is, How to put drops in the eyes of a cat without ending up angry with us?
The important thing is that we are calm. If we are nervous, the cat will notice it and will get tense even before we do anything to it. Therefore, if necessary, we will go to a room alone and take a few deep breaths, releasing the air slowly until we have managed to calm down. Later, it will only be a matter of acting normally.
It is true: the feline is very intelligent and, by observing us, it can intuit what we are going to do, but this is something we have to downplay. Putting drops on it is nothing to write home about 😉; also, when a vet recommends us to put them on, it is because he really needs it. So for his own sake, we'll open the eye drop and put it on a table close to where we are and call him by showing him a cat treat and giving it to him as soon as he's approached.

First of all, it is highly advisable to pamper him for a little while, with caresses or even games, so the experience will not be so unpleasant for him. Of course, when a couple of minutes have passed, we will take the cat and put it on the table. Then we will gently but firmly hold his head.
Then, we will keep his eye open with the fingers of one hand, and with the other we will put the drops placing the eye drops at a distance of 1 centimeter (more or less) from the eye. When we're done, we'll give you a few treats as a prize.
