Cats are the most successful felines. Today there are many families who decide to live with one of them, something that is not surprising since ... who can resist that look? Nowadays more and more people decide to spend part of their money to take care of these furry ones that, in reality, should not be their responsibility, but that of the municipalities. But the reality is that, if it weren't for these volunteers, many stray cats would starve to death. So, How to have controlled cat colonies? With respect and affection.
And with something else, of course 🙂. If you have decided to take care of a group of cats, to control them you must take into account the following:
- All individuals must be neutered to prevent more kittens from being born on the street. After the operation, ask your vet to cut their ear, like the one on the black cat in the first image in this article. This mark will be very useful to know which animal is neutered and which is not.
- Take them to eat every day, if you can, more than once a day. The ideal is to give them dry feed, since the wet one makes the soil quite dirty, which could upset the neighbors. After eating, clean the area.
- Try not to socialize with them too much. I know, it is difficult, but you must think that there are people who do not love cats, to the point that they can do them a lot of harm and even kill them. If you interact with cats that you care for too much, they might think that all humans are good, which would put them in danger.
- If you see that there is someone sick, place a cage-trap for cats with wet food inside and wait for them to enter to take them to the vet. A sick cat could infect others, so at the slightest suspicion of illness, you should consult a professional.
