How to get the cat used to the automatic waterer?

Give a cat fountain to your friend

How to get the cat used to the automatic waterer? The truth is that this is one of the best purchases that can be made, since the feline with whom we share home and life, being originally from the deserts, does not like too much to drink stagnant water, something that if not putting a remedy will give you many health problems.

For this reason, cat fountains or automatic drinkers are ideal, as they will stimulate the urge to drink, and therefore, you will stay much more hydrated and healthy. But of course, for that you have to get used to it first. Next I will explain how my furry did it.

Step 1 - Put the automatic waterer in a quiet room

Cats don't like noise, so If we want them to get used to it, it is very important to put it in a room that is as less busy as possible.. In my case, I have it in the bedroom, in a corner.

From the first day I have it plugged in, but if yours doubts or you see that it does not trust, as happened to my cat Sasha for example, go alternating times in which you have it plugged in with others in which you do not.

Step 2 - Try not to make sudden movements

... And make sure that, if you have it, your most rebellious cat does not scare others 🙂. Any bad experience can spoil any little step that your furry has taken. You should speak to him in a very cheerful tone of voice, almost as if you were speaking to a small child. Make him curious about the drinker, by touching the object for example, or attracting the animal to him with a treat that he likes a lot.

Step 3 - Enjoy watching him drink

Over time (hours, a few days maybe) you will see that your cat little by little begins to drink from his drinking fountain, and stops doing it from the tap and those other unwanted places (my cat Benji has come to drink water, obviously clean, from the toilet ... and since we have the source he has not done so). Anyway, keep him in his old waterer for at least a month, just in case.
