Treating the cat with respect is the most important thing. You should not yell, or hit, or grab him by the tail, or force him to do something he does not want (for example, hold him when he tries by all means to let go). Nor should you scare or anger him. If we do any of these things, we will not be friends with our cat, but rather someone who scares him.
