How to act in the face of being hit by a cat?

Help your cat heal from injuries

Whoever lives with a feline must be prepared for everything that may happen to him. Although accidents can be prevented, the reality is that we are human and therefore can never fully protect you. As your caregivers, however, we need to know how to deal with a run over by a cat, especially if we let it go outside.

A run over, no matter how slight, will cause a lot of pain to the animal. That is why I am going to tell you what you have to do to help him.

Keep calm

From experience I can tell you that it is not easy, but it is important. The cat is a very sensitive animal that perceives our emotions and can "catch" them. The calmer we are, the better it will be for the feline, which will be very scared and probably nervous.

Check your cat

Although apparently nothing is broken, play him well for everything to see if he complains. In the event that you notice that one leg does not support well, hold it and make it walk a little to see which is affected and to determine the severity of the problem. Do not press hard, as this will only cause him much more pain and, therefore, he could scratch and / or bite you.

In the event of bleeding, wipe the wound with clean gauze and hydrogen peroxide. Stop the bleeding by pressing down with a new gauze pad.

Take him to the vet

Once you know more or less how your cat is doing, take him to the vet as soon as possible. Why? For various reasons, the main ones being the following:

  • A car can weigh an average of 700kg. A common cat 4-7kg. A simple touch can be fatal to the animal.
  • The cat should not be self-medicated. The professional must review it, make a diagnosis, and then it will be when they tell you what medication you should give, the dose and how often.
  • Complications could arise. Although you seemingly look good, it could get worse later. One way to avoid this is by taking him to the veterinary clinic or hospital.

Sad cat

Much encouragement.
