The street is a place that is not very appropriate to live. There are many dangers that a cat can encounter, and therefore the risk of it dying young is, unfortunately, very high. Still, the number of cats stranded on any corner is only increasing; animals that are not always neutered or sterilized, and that, as a consequence, as soon as they are in heat they will go in search of a mate to breed. This means that there will be more kittens who will have to make a life for themselves if they want to succeed.

Cats that live on the street, all of them, usually stay hidden during the day, especially if the temperatures are very high. You can find them especially near the garbage containers, which is where they find their food, but they will also approach the houses of those who take care of them if they are nearby.
As the sun sets, your body is activated. Being nocturnal animals, while humans sleep, they are dedicated to going in search of food, but also to fight if there is a cat in heat. Doing so can spread disease or end up seriously injured. And that, if they are not hit by a car, whose fate many have shared.
There are still those who think that cats can adapt without problems to these conditions, but the reality is very different. The reality is that cats that once lived with humans they don't know how to live on the street; and even those who have never had contact with us, the so-called feral catsThey only have a life expectancy of 3-4 years.
A healthy and well-cared for stray cat can live 7-10 years if neutered, since you will not have the heat and therefore will not have that need to go looking for a partner, so you will get in much less trouble and, therefore, the risk of contracting a serious disease, such as leukemia or PIF, will decrease considerably.
So, if you want to help stray cats, and whenever possible, I recommend that you castres some. In this way, you will help them live longer.
