How is the behavior of the domestic cat?

Cat on sofa

El domestic cat, the only feline that dared to get so close to humans that he ended up becoming one of their best friends. It is true that during medieval times it was on the verge of extinction in Europe, as it was believed that it was a carrier of the Black Death, but there have always been people who have respected and cared for it.

And it is that the behavior of the domestic cat is very mysterious and, in turn, very attractive. It makes us want to know more about this magnificent animal that we have resting on the sofa or in bed. But, What is the character of this feline really like?

It is independent, but social

The domestic cat, if it were in its natural habitat, would be a solitary, predatory animal that would only approach another when it was in heat. But when he goes to live with humans, having basic needs covered every day, he stops hunting, and little by little he becomes a feline that likes to be in the company of people, to the point that he considers them members of his family.

But the hunting instinct still has it, still feels it. In fact, during games, he perfects his hunting techniques, whether it is trying to catch a rope, a ball or another toy.

Can be very affectionate

If he is separated from his mother when he is two months old, and if from then on he lives with a human family that really loves him and cares for him, that cat is going to be very affectionate, to the point that he will spend as much time as possible with them, asking for pampering and caressing.

In the event that it has no relationship with humans from this early age, it will end up being a wild or semi-wild cat.

It's very quiet

Of course, there are exceptions, but it is usually very quiet. He spends about 16-18h sleeping, and the rest is spent eating, drinking, relieving himself, asking for pampering, playing and spending time with loved ones, and going out for a walk if he has permission to do so. While at home, sometimes it will seem to you that there is no cat.
