How to clean my cat's litter box

Cat in the sandbox

The litter box or litter box is one of the things that we have to buy so that our beloved furry can relieve himself. It is your private bathroom, where you will go every time you need to urinate or evacuate, and it must always be as clean as possible.

Therefore, I will explain to you how to clean my cat's litter box so that, in this way, you feel comfortable when you have to go there.

How often do you have to clean the sandbox?

The sandbox has to be cleaned as often as necessary, let me explain: depending on the type of sand that is used and the number of cats in the home that frequency can vary. Thus, if, for example, we live with two cats and use a litter, let's say, from a supermarket that does not agglomerate anything, we will have to clean thoroughly once a week; On the other hand, if we also live with two furry ones but we use silica sand or clumping sand, it may be necessary to clean it every 15 or 20 days.

It is important to remember that If the litter box is dirty and smells bad, the cat will not use itInstead, they will prefer to relieve themselves in other areas that are cleaner, such as the floor or furniture. Therefore, you have to remove the stools every day, and do a deep cleaning whenever necessary.

How do you clean it?

To clean it we will need the following:

  • Rubber gloves
  • Dishwasher (or a specific product for cleaning sandboxes)
  • Scourer (like the one used to wash dishes, cutlery, glasses, etc.)
  • Water
  • Dry cloth
  • Sand
  • Pala

Once we have it all you have to follow this step by step:

  1. The first thing to do is put on your gloves, scoop up the stool with a shovel, and throw it away.
  2. Later, with this same shovel you have to remove all the sand that may have remained.
  3. Now, add a few drops of dishwasher, water and clean it well with the scouring pad.
  4. The foam and dirt are then removed with water.
  5. Finally, it is thoroughly dried and refilled with sand.

Thus, we will have a cat that will feel good and will not need to do its things in places not intended for it 🙂.
