If there is something that cats do a lot, it is take care of your nails. They spend a good part of their time keeping them sharp, since you never know when they will have to use them. The problem is that, in the absence of trunks or branches, for this they use the first thing they find, that is, the furniture we have at home.
But we can do one thing if we want the furniture to end up destroyed: give them a scraper. There are several types, so we are going to give you a few tips that will be very useful to know how to choose a cat scratching post.
What types of scrapers are there?
In pet stores you will see that there are 5 types, which are:
Scratching post
It consists of a small tower, which usually has a stuffed mouse or a feather attached to it, with a base. In addition, as they measure between 40 and 120cm, they are perfect for kittens or for cats that have pain in their paws.
Tree type scraper
This type of scraper It has one or more beds, several posts that will help them to take care of their nails, and also to control their domains, since they measure between 120 and 240cm.
Tower scraper
It is the most recommended when you have two or more cats. It has a height of up to 260cm, three posts, caves, beds… They are great for big cats to have a great time, since they have all the space they need, and you can be calm since it is fixed to the ceiling.
Vertical scrapers
If you do not have much space, it is best to put several vertical scrapers hooked to the wall, thus saving space. They are very inexpensive and look great in any corner.
Cardboard scraper
It is undoubtedly the most economical. There are several models: in the form of a worm, home, carpet type ... The only drawback is that over time they spoil, but for the price they have (from 9 euros) they are worth it, especially when the animal has some problem in your joints or is older.
Do you already know which one to choose? 🙂
