It is often thought that a cat can live and support itself, even that it does not need much to be happy. But the reality is that has practically the same needs as a dog: water, food and company.
When we make the decision to bring a furry home, we have to be aware that, if we ignore him, in the end boredom will appear in cats. If you do, the animal will feel so bad that it may stop feeding. How to avoid it?
How to know that my cat is bored?
Boredom is a feeling that humans will feel on more than one occasion throughout our lives. It is very unpleasant, so much so, that we do whatever it takes to make it disappear: when we are little, we scream, cry, and sometimes we throw our toys so that our parents pay attention to us; when we grow up we opt for more mature solutions, such as reading, going out to play sports, or whatever we like.
What is the cat doing? Well, although it is curious, it does not behave in a different way from us. When it is a furry, it will try to attract the attention of adults (whether other cats, dogs or people) at all costs, and for that can throw things on the ground, bite and / or scratch furniture and / or plants, or ultimately, behave in a wrong way. The bored adult cat for the first few days will do the same as the kitten, but if the situation does not change, he will choose to spend more time in bed.
What can I do to help you?
The answer is simple: spend time with him. But no, I do not mean that you are both in the same room, but rather that you interact with him, that you play with him, that you give him affection. When you get home, or when you least expect it, take him in your arms and give him many kisses (Without overwhelming him. And yes, I do 🙂).
After the pampering, take a rope and invite him to play: make a ball of aluminum foil and throw it at him so he has to go get it. If you have a cardboard box that will fit well, make two holes for it to go in and out.
Thus, little by little, it will go back to being the cat it was before ... or maybe happier.
