At what age can cats be separated from their mother?

Little kittens

Do you have a cat that has recently raised and would like to know when you can give the little ones up for adoption? If so, I invite you to read this article, as many doubts often arise in this regard. Doubts that I am going to solve for you so that, in that way, both the mother cat and her babies can continue to lead a normal life even after they are separated.

So let's see at what age cats can be separated from their mother.

Cats are excellent mothers. They worry about their little ones so much that they constantly watch over them. In addition, they always keep them clean, fed and, of course, teach them everything they need to know to be cats; that is, through games, they give them practical lessons on how and when to hunt, how to move, how and where to hide, etc. Meanwhile, the little ones also learn something that is very important, and it is through control bite force.

This is something that must be taken into account when we consider separating the kittens from their mother, because doing so ahead of time we risk that the furry ones do not know how they have to behave.

Tabby kitten

In the wild, or if they live on the streets, female cats are with their young until they are two or two and a half months old. Since then, kittens have already learned all the basics they need to know to be and behave like what they are: felines. Thus, the best age to separate them is precisely at 8-10 weeks old, not before. In this way, both the cat and the little ones can continue with their lives without problems.

And, by the way, it may happen that the cat feels strange for a few days, or that she looks for them, but do not worry. Give him lots of pampering and in no time it will pass 🙂.

Good to know that, about a year ago my daughter adopted a kitten since her mother died leaving her orphan. She was not more than two weeks old and we raised her with a bottle but she has never behaved like a normal cat, in fact she does not know how to meow. Use sounds to communicate but more like a whimper than something else. She is very cute but she does not know how to bathe like cats. As we had another cat a year older than her he has taught her some things but apparently she is not enough to behave like a normal kitten.

      Hey.
No, there is nothing like a mother to teach the kitten everything it needs to know. Anyway, if your kitten has had a cat master, even if she doesn't know how to meow, she will surely be very happy.
      A greeting.
