Have you ever wondered if animals have rights? We are not only referring to our friends the cats but to all the animals on the planet. All of them have a series of recognized rights and are included in the:
UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF ANIMAL RIGHTS
PREAMBLE
Considering that every animal possesses rights.
Considering that the ignorance and disregard of these rights
have led and continue to lead man to commit crimes against
nature and against animals.
Considering that the recognition by the human species
of the right to the existence of other species of animals
it constitutes the foundation of the coexistence of species in the world.
Considering that man commits genocide and there is a threat that he will continue to commit it.
Considering that man's respect for animals is linked to man's respect for each other.
Considering that education implies teaching, from childhood, to observe, understand, respect and love animals.
WE PROCLAIM THE FOLLOWING:
Article 1º All animals are born equal to life and have the same rights to existence.
Article 2º
a) Every animal has the right to be respected.
b) Man, as an animal species, cannot claim the
right to exterminate other animals or exploit them violating their
right. You have the obligation to put your knowledge at the service of
animals.
c) All animals have the right to human attention, care and protection.
Article 3º
a) No animal will be subjected to mistreatment or cruel acts.
b) If the death of an animal is necessary, it must be instantaneous, painless and not generating anguish.
Article 4º
a) Every animal belonging to a wild species has the right to
live in freedom in their own natural environment on land, air or
aquatic and reproduce.
b) Any deprivation of liberty, even that which has educational purposes, is contrary to this right.
Article 5º
a) Any animal belonging to a species that lives traditionally
in the environment of man, he has the right to live and grow at the pace and in
the conditions of life and freedom that are typical of their species.
b) Any modification of said rhythm or said conditions imposed by man is contrary to said right.
Article 6º
a) Every animal chosen by man as a companion has the right to
that the duration of its life is in accordance with its natural longevity.
b) The abandonment of an animal is a cruel and degrading act.
Article 7º All working animals have the right to a
reasonable limitation of time and intensity of work, at a
restorative food and rest.
Article 8º
a) Animal experimentation that involves physical suffering or
psychological is incompatible with the rights of the animal, whether it is
medical, scientific, commercial, or any other experiments
form of experimentation.
b) Alternative experimentation techniques should be used and developed.
Article 9º Animals raised for food should
be nurtured, housed, transported and slaughtered without causing them or
anxiety or pain.
Article 10º
a) No animal will be exploited for the entertainment of man.
b) Animal exhibitions and shows that use them are incompatible with the dignity of the animal.
Article 11º Any act that involves the unnecessary death of an animal is a biocide, that is, a crime against life.
Article 12º
a) Any act that involves the death of a large number of animals
savages is a genocide, that is, a crime against the species.
b) Pollution and destruction of the natural environment lead to genocide.
Article 13º
a) A dead animal must be treated with respect.
b) Violent scenes in which there are animal victims must be
prohibited in the movies and on television, unless your goal is to
to denounce the attacks against the rights of the animal.
Article 14º
a) The organisms for the protection and safeguarding of animals must be represented at the governmental level.
b) Animal rights must be defended by law, as well as human rights.
The Declaration was approved by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and, later, by the Organization of the United Nations (UN).
