What is it?
Noah Syndrome is a mental disorder that consists of the accumulation of animals in an uncontrolled way, be it cats, dogs, birds, ... whatever. The affected person may feel appreciation for them, but being ill they do not realize the damage - especially emotional - that it is causing them by having them locked in a space that is increasingly reduced and in a very precarious situation.
What are the symptoms?
Symptoms of this disorder are the following:
- Accumulation of large numbers of animals compulsively and inordinately.
- Inability to keep animals well.
- Denial of the problem.
- Furry animals and humans suffer.
How can you help?
If you know of a case of Noah Syndrome, what you have to do is get in touch with a Protective of Animals (not kennel). She, together with the local council, would be in charge of studying the case, would try to reach an agreement with the affected person so that the animals could be taken away in the most peaceful way possible and, if necessary, would file the pertinent complaint.
Animals are not things. They should never be treated as objects.
