Cats are animals that spend a good part of their time keeping clean; however, if they are sick or have gotten into places they shouldn't, then we will have to give them a hand otherwise his own life could be in danger.
Not sure how to bathe a cat? Do not worry. We explain step by step how to do it.
Get him used to the water
Whether your cat is young or adult, the first and most important thing to do is get him used to the water. If it is a kitten, it will take less time to get used to, so I recommend that you include in your daily routine filling a basin with warm water and letting the animal approach. To make it even more curious, spray the bowl (on the outside) with catnip, or pass it some cat treat that smells a lot. Thus, the feline will feel the smell and will approach without hesitation.
Bathe him calmly
It is essential that be calm when you bathe your cat, as otherwise he will feel the stress and could scratch and / or bite you. To avoid this, take it in your arms and put it in a basin that you will have filled a little with warm water, enough so that the lower half of the legs, that is, what is the cat's foot, is under water. Go giving him treats for cats so that he associates the water with something positive - the treats. Repeat for two weeks before proceeding to bathe.
Come the day, fill the tub a little with warm water, and proceed to bathe the cat. Use a specific shampoo for cats and dogs, and avoid getting in contact with the eyes, nose and mouth. When you're done, brush off the suds, pat him dry with a towel, and give him lots of rewards for good behavior. So surely he will want you to bathe him again soon 😉, but beware do not have to bathe more than once a month. In the event that it gets dirty before its time, wipe it with a gauze soaked in warm water.
I hope these tips help you to enjoy your furry bath 🙂.
